Problems installing and/or launching URLChaser
Messages refering to
"Installer" or similar
Your
system does not harbour a Windows Installer runtime, or your installer is
corrupt.
Windows 2000/XP The installer is part of the original system setup. You should
be able to re-install or repair the installer from your original
2000/XP-disk.
Windows 98/NT You may lack an installer if you
haven't installed common updates or service packs. Use your system's
update sevice, or visit Microsoft on the web to download relevant
updates. Messages refering to
"msdxm.ocx" or "Media player" or similar
Your system lacks an updated version of the
Windows Media Player, or the file msdxm.ocx is corrupt or
not properly registered.
All platforms URLChaser requires
Windows Media Player 6.4 or higher. The player's file name is
mplayer2.exe, and one of its accompanying controls,
msdxm.ocx.
Download version 6.4 of the player at Microsoft Media.
The 6.x player was part
of Windows 98 Second Edition and later systems. Even though you find
the files mentioned above on your machine, you should check
Properties / Version and get the 6.4 player to ensure smooth
running. NOTE If you have a LATER
version of the player - 7 or 9 - and still experience problems:
Download and install the 6.4 player regardless. The 6.4
player is standalone in relation to later versions, and will not remove or
harm your new player. The reason the 6.4 player may work better with
URLChaser, is the fact it was (in part) made for embedding, which is the
case in an application such as URLChaser: URLChaser harbours an interface
that needs to connect to an already existing player.
