URLChaser - Sample scenarios and benefits of use

URLChaser is not an internet downloader, it is a string handler customized to treat URLs or hyperlinks.
What for? Well -
Imagine

You are a British weather stats aficionado and find this -

http://www.historyofbritishweather/stats/1942/august.html

After a few tests, typing away in your browsers address bar, you realize there is super information here, ranging from "1808/march.html" up until today!

Or, you are a icons and clipart collector and find this -

http://www.graphicsgalore/freeicons/coll_a/index.html

After a few tests, typing away in your browsers address bar, you realize there are gorgeous icons here, ranging from "coll_a" to "coll_z". But there is more - you realize the icons in each of the galleries are numbered "01.gif" to "30.gif", one of them looking like this -

http://www.graphicsgalore/freeicons/coll_x/06.gif

OK: Galleries a-z, 30 icons in each. Compute: 780 icons just waiting to be downloaded!

All these links may be handled by URLChaser. In matter of seconds, you may generate complete lists based on dates, numerical ordering, or alphabetical ordering - and note: The last link in the above samples is "deep", or hierarchical in two levels. For every letter a to z, there are numbers 01-30. URLChaser may handle any depth, any number of levels.

URLChaser

. Helps you create html-files targeting mass-content ordered in series on the web: Pages, images, movies, music, whatever. Once you have stumbled upon desired content of this type, you may generate a complete list in a matter of seconds.

. The html-files you create with URLChaser becomes defacto merging documents, in that they bring together content that is not necessarily linked together on the web: An image gallery 1 may not contain a link to gallery 2 and so on, and a web site downloader may take forever to find them both, or not find them at all unless you add each link to the application one-by-one. No more of this - your URLChaser document brings all links in a series together, and makes your offline browser take an IQ quantum leap.

. By directing an offline browser application to use your URLChaser file as its starting point (rather than a site on the web), you make your download targeted and smart. The amount of unwanted material otherwise downloaded by web crawlers will be significantly reduced.

. By using URLChaser, you automate the otherwise tedious first step of mass downloading: No more repetitious copy/paste, insert, or whatever - create a list in URLChaser and feed the list to your downloader.

memo & tips

. Even if you don't use a downloading application, URLChaser facilates your browsing of pages ordered in a series. Your URLChaser html file then becomes a convenient navigation page. Simply keep the page open, and open all its links in new windows.

. Offline browser applications abound. They enable you to download complete web pages to your hard disk. Examples of well known offline browsers are:

WebCopier | Offline Explorer | WebZIP | WebStripper | DownloadDruid | ... and others
