System Requirements Windows 98SE/ME/NT4/2000/XP The information herein is valid for all systems, but experience has shown that problems that may arise when installing URLChaser almost exclusively concern Windows 98. Media Player Requirements Your system must harbour version 6.4 of the Windows Media Player. The file is named mplayer2.exe. Further, the player's supporting control, msdxm.ocx must be present (usually in the System or System32 folders). Windows may harbour files with similar names. Make sure to search for these files and none other. If found, alt-click the file, select Properties / Version to find out its version number. Windows 98SE/ME/2000 did contain the 6.x player, but Windows 98 original edition did not. Thus, an original 98 system must have the Second Edition update to be able run URLChaser. Further, several upgrades of Internet Explorer has contained the 6.x player. If you have Internet Explorer 5 or higher, the 6.x player should already be present on your machine. Download version 6.4 of Windows Media Player at Microsoft Media. NOTES Player 6.4 is standalone from other versions of the player. To ensure smooth running, you should have it installed regardless of whether you already have later versions. a. The 6.4 player is (in part) made for embedding (in applications such as URLChaser, for example). It has proved stable and reliable. b. Installing the 6.4 player will not harm or remove later versions. Conversely, installing a later version will not harm or remove the 6.4 player. As stated above the player 6 is standalone, and will remain on your system for other purposes, while you may enjoy the full benefits of your new player.
